What is an eicr?
An EICR is an electrical test carried out on the consumer board to ensure the electrics and wiring are safe. EICRS need to be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Electricians at AJM, are qualified to the highest Test & Inspect standard meaning we are fully compentant in carrying out EICRs in all sectors.
It is recommended that homeowners carry out an EICR test on their home every 5 years.
Recommendations for commercial and industrial sectors vary on many factors.
Electrical inspection condition reports for landlords
As a landlord, you are responsible for the safety of the electrics throughout the property. This includes the installation itself and any electrical appliances you’ve provided. You’ll need to make sure these are safe when a new tenant moves in and maintained for the duration of their tenancy.
As of 1st June 2020, private landlords are now legally required to have an EICR at least every five years.


PAT Testing
Portable Appliance Testing is an examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use. Each appliance is visually checked, then plugged into our PAT tester to gather readings and ensure it is safe.
PAT is usually performed regularly on customers homes, commercial premises, rental properties and industrial warehouses to help protect against accidents or fires from faulty electrical appliances.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will an EICR show if I need urgent electrical repairs?
YES, an EICR will provide you with a coded report on faults found.
Anything coded 1, 2 or further investigation is required, will need to be investigated and put right to gain a satisfactory certificate. Pointers coded 3 are reccommended.
What is the difference between an EICR and PAT test?
An EICR is an electrical test carried out of a consumer unit to assess the wiring and electrical installation. An EICR will test the electrical circuits ensuring there are no faults or risk of fire or electric shocks
A PAT Test is a portable appliance test carried out on individual appliances and equiptment to ensure they are safe to use.
How long will an EICR take?
The length of time an EICR will take is largely dependant on the size of the property or premises. An average domestic home will take between 3-4 hours.
